Telecommunications provider Globe constructed over 10 new towers in Iloilo province in 2024, to strengthen digital infrastructure and support the region’s economic growth.

Iloilo, which saw a 10.5% growth in 2023, contributed ₱215.42 billion to the Western Visayas economy, based on data from the Philippine Statistics Authority. The province’s economy thrives on its services sector, which makes up 56.5%, followed by agriculture and fishing at 22.7%, and the industry sector at 28.8%.

“Our network expansion in Iloilo reflects our dedication to empowering communities,” said Patrick Gloria, vice president for external affairs at Globe. “With improved access to digital services, local enterprises can unlock new growth opportunities, contributing to Iloilo’s continued economic progress.”

The new towers were built with the hope of providing reliable broadband and mobile services across urban and rural areas. This improved connectivity benefits residents, businesses, and tourists, helping bridge gaps and enhance opportunities in sectors such as retail, transportation, and financial services.

Globe’s efforts are in line with Iloilo’s economic strengths and rising demand for connectivity, especially during major events like the Dinagyang Festival. The expanded network will ensure seamless communication and support local businesses in establishing a stronger online presence.

“These improvements enable local businesses to thrive digitally, ensuring seamless communication and online transactions,” said Gloria.
