Telecommunications company Globe, with the Department of Education, local government units (LGU), and Ayala Foundation, is expanding the CENTEX Digital Education program and adding a donation “wallet” inside the GlobeOne app to support public schools.
The program uses a “High Touch, High Tech” approach that blends digital modules, in-person coaching, and Professional Learning Communities. Teachers use digital tools and real-time data to tailor lessons based on students’ actual learning needs.
In a pilot in San Marcelino, Zambales, students in participating schools posted a 13.8 percentage point increase in math scores versus control schools after 12 weeks, based on program data.
“Learning improves when technology is paired with care, guidance, and accountability,” said Yoly Crisanto, chief sustainability and corporate communications officer of Globe. “CENTEX Digital Education reflects our commitment to help teachers lead confident digital classrooms and ensure students learn at the right level, not just move through the system.”
The program aims to train data-driven teachers who can address individual learning gaps while helping students develop early familiarity with digital tools.
“CENTEX is about helping students learn better by supporting the teachers who guide them,” said Tony Lambino, president of Ayala Foundation. “By strengthening teacher capacity and using data to inform instruction, we help teachers differentiate learning and provide support that responds to each student’s needs.”
Globe customers can donate through Globe Rewards or GoGIVE in the GlobeOne app. Funds will be used to set up Digital Learning Labs, improve connectivity, and integrate platforms such as Khan Academy for personalized learning.
To support the program via GoGIVE:
- Open the GlobeOne app and tap GoGIVE
- Select “Building Learning Communities through CENTEX Digital Education”
- Earn and send hearts automatically when using mobile data
More than 8,000 students and over 300 public school teachers are expected to benefit directly. The model is designed to scale through support from LGUs and DepEd while developing local teacher-leaders.
