Telecommunications company Globe is strengthening its efforts to protect children online by expanding cybersecurity tools, awareness programs, and reporting channels to help prevent Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material (CSAEM).

The company said online exploitation remains a growing concern in the Philippines as internet access expands. Its initiatives align with this year’s Safer Internet Day theme, “Ako, Ikaw, Tayo: Konektado at Protektado Laban sa OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children) at CSAEM (Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material),” which promotes shared responsibility in online safety.

“Safety in the digital space requires action on all fronts,” said Yoly Crisanto, chief sustainability and corporate communications officer of Globe. “We protect our customers through advanced filtering, real-time threat blocking, and easy-to-use reporting tools like the Globe StopSpam portal. But true protection also means education, giving every Filipino, especially the youth, the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and speak up online.”

Through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), Globe reached more than 16,560 students and educators in 2025 through workshops focused on digital citizenship, privacy, and child protection. Since the program began in 2016, it has reached nearly 2 million students nationwide.

Globe also strengthened its network defenses. In 2025, the company blocked 967 million scam and spam messages, disabled 272,746 SIMs through its StopSpam portal, and shut down 17,384 malicious domains, including 8,704 illegal gambling websites.

As part of its child protection efforts, Globe blocked 3,096 domains linked to child pornography and exploitation. The company supported these measures with a $2.7 million investment in advanced content-filtering technology.

Globe also supports the MAKABATA 1383 helpline, which is operated by the Council for the Welfare of Children. The helpline aims to improve reporting of online abuse and child rights violations, helping address gaps in awareness, access, and response.
