Telecommunications company Globe has integrated a hyper gain antenna, which is designed to amplify signals by up to 200% in areas with connectivity challenges. This extends the reach of cell sites by 40%, aiming to address persistent tower site development obstacles.

Developed in collaboration with antenna specialists Comarcom Ltd. and Telkha Network Inc., the Spotlight Vega Antenna has been recently implemented in Tagaytay City, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro, and San Fernando, La Union. This deployment marks a significant leap forward in 2G and 4G connectivity across the region, potentially benefiting nearly 250,000 residents.

“This innovative technology from our partners will help us fill coverage gaps in our network and, thus, help us give better service to subscribers,” said Gerhard Tan, head of Technology Strategy and Innovation at Globe.

Globe leverages sustainable technologies like this innovative antenna, promising a plethora of benefits. The Spotlight Vega Antenna offers an average 40% wider coverage range and a 30% enhancement in signal quality over traditional panel antennas. It ensures seamless integration, cost-efficiency, and maintenance-free operation, providing users with download speeds up to four times faster and upload speeds twice as rapid, thereby reducing dropped calls and network black spots significantly.

With the hyper gain antenna amplifying signals by 200% compared to conventional antennas, Globe subscribers can anticipate a substantial improvement in connectivity, particularly in remote areas where connectivity has historically been challenging.
