Globe is now offering eco-friendly SIM cards to Globe Prepaid and TM users, expanding its efforts to support environmental sustainability.
The new SIM cards are made from 100% recycled plastic. This change follows Globe’s 2022 rollout of the ecoSIMs to Postpaid customers, making the product now available to its entire mobile user base. Prepaid and TM users make up more than 96% of Globe’s mobile customers.
“Sustainability is at the heart of what we do,” said Yoly Crisanto, chief sustainability and corporate communications officer of Globe. “We continue to look for areas in the business where our practice leads to greater impact.”
“The launch of our ecoSIMs is just one of the many ways Globe is working towards a greener Philippines, and we invite our customers to be part of this journey,” said Eric Tanbauco, head of Consumer Mobile Business, Globe.
Reducing impact on the environment
The shift from virgin plastic to recycled material supports Sustainable Development Goals on responsible consumption and climate action. With more consumers looking for eco-friendly products, Globe believes this step answers the growing call for companies to take meaningful climate action.
The company said users can help the planet without spending more. TM customers, in particular, can continue enjoying affordable services while also taking part in sustainable practices.
Globe said the ecoSIMs will be available nationwide soon. Other green steps by the company include using renewable energy, shifting to electric vehicles, and exploring greener network operations.
