Google has expanded Bard’s latest features, including Gemini Pro, to a broader linguistic and geographic audience. The introduction of image generation aims to empower users to bring their concepts to life.
Gemini is a family of multimodal large language models developed by Google DeepMind, which can understand not only texts but also images.
In December, Google integrated Gemini Pro into Bard in English, elevating Bard’s capabilities in comprehension, reasoning, summarization, and coding. Now available in over 40 languages and spanning more than 230 countries and territories, Gemini Pro in Bard facilitates collaborative efforts on a global scale.

Acknowledging Bard with Gemini Pro as one of the top-performing chatbots, the Large Model Systems Organization emphasized its “stunning leap” forward. Independent assessments further positioned Bard with Gemini Pro favorably against other free and paid conversational artificial intelligence (AI) alternatives.
AI guardrails
Responding to the demand for validation, Google is expanding the double-check feature to over 40 languages. By clicking on the “G” icon, Bard will assess the web for supporting or contradicting content. This feature, already popular in English, adds a layer of credibility to Bard’s responses.
For an added touch of creativity, users can now generate images in Bard, available in English across most countries globally, at no cost. Powered by Google’s updated Imagen 2 model, this feature delivers high-quality, photorealistic visuals based on user descriptions, such as “create an image of a dog riding a surfboard.”
In line with Google’s AI Principles, responsible design guides image generation. To distinguish between Bard-generated visuals and human artwork, SynthID embeds digitally identifiable watermarks into the pixels of the images. Google’s commitment to safety includes technical guardrails, data safety investments, and ongoing efforts to enhance model safety and privacy.
These updates aim to make Bard an even more helpful and globally accessible AI collaborator for everything from big, creative projects to smaller, everyday tasks.
