The government and the private sector are working together to help improve artificial intelligence (AI) skills across the country and prepare workers for changes in the global job market.

The partnership was finalized during a meeting between the government and the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) – Education and Jobs Sector Group on Wednesday.

According to the Presidential Communications Office, the PSAC presented a detailed plan for enterprise-based education and AI training. The goal is to improve AI literacy and help young Filipinos meet the needs of a world where AI is becoming more common in different industries.

Officials also discussed the labor market, the semiconductor industry, and education.

“The upskilling initiative using AI will help expand AI literacy in the country,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro. “It will also prepare workers for an AI-powered future and improve the country’s ability not only to use but also to build AI systems.”

Castro said the private sector will support efforts to expose students early to real work settings.

“In addition to upskilling, student work immersion will be strengthened to give young people early exposure to the professional work environment. With the private sector as a partner, the government will continue working to achieve the country’s development and economic goals,” she said.
