Payments platform HitPay has partnered with Visa Acceptance Solutions of global payments company Visa to widen card payment acceptance for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) in the Philippines. The move gives local merchants more options to process in-store and online transactions as digital commerce continues to grow in the country.

The partnership connects HitPay’s payment platform with the Visa Acceptance Platform, allowing more businesses to offer card payments without going through long bank application processes. Merchants can use HitPay’s tools for both online and face-to-face transactions and access devices such as EMV-certified card readers and mobile-based payment solutions.

“With our connection to Visa Acceptance Platform, we are removing the friction and cost barriers that historically kept card acceptance out of reach for many Filipino merchants,” said Aditya Haripurkar, CEO of HitPay. “This empowers them to compete effectively and truly participate in the Philippines’ rapidly expanding digital economy.”

Singapore-based HitPay said the integration lets SMBs onboard faster and manage payments across channels in a simpler and more affordable way. The company added that the setup is meant to help small businesses keep up with changing consumer preferences as more people choose cashless transactions.

Visa, a global payments technology company, said the collaboration supports its goal of improving access to digital payments among local merchants. The company cited internal research showing that card-accepting businesses see higher turnover.

“We believe an open platform approach is key to enabling innovation at scale, and increasing financial inclusion,” said Kunal Chatterjee, head of Acceptance Sales, Value-Added Services, Asia Pacific at Visa. “By working with partners like HitPay, Visa is helping bring the benefits of our global acceptance network to local businesses in the Philippines.”

He noted that they are creating the seamless, omnichannel experiences that today’s Filipino customers expect, making it easier for local SMBs to accept card payments and thrive.

HitPay and Visa plan to expand the partnership to more Southeast Asian markets after the rollout in the Philippines. The companies said the regional expansion aims to help more SMBs access secure, simple, and affordable card payment tools.
