Consumer finance company Home Credit Philippines held a series of financial wellness workshops for employees across its National Capital Region offices, focusing on practical money management, savings, and long-term financial planning.

The initiative comes as new data from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) showed that while financial literacy among Filipinos has improved, financial resilience remains low. According to the 2025 Consumer Finance and Inclusion Survey, 74% of Filipino adults can answer basic financial literacy questions correctly, up from 69% in 2021. However, only 30% have enough savings to handle emergencies or income disruption, while just 43% are satisfied with their financial situation.

Home Credit said the workshops are hoped to help employees become more “Wais sa Life” by developing better money habits and improving financial discipline.

The sessions carried the theme “Building a Financially Secure Future” and were facilitated by financial advocates Fitz Villafuerte and Kimmy Batallones, also known online as “Your Adulting Companion.”

The company timed the program alongside International Women’s Month celebrations, recognizing the role of women in managing household finances and budgeting decisions.

“We believe that financial wellness should start at home,” said Barbara Mecua, chief people officer of Home Credit Philippines. “That is why at Home Credit, we make it a priority to equip our employees with the financial confidence they need to build a workforce that can make sound decisions beyond the workplace.”

Employees who joined the sessions said the workshops encouraged them to set clearer financial goals and improve their personal growth mindset.

“I want to start setting goals now because that’s the most important part,” said Rea Sumbe Jr., complaints specialist at Home Credit Philippines.

Home Credit said its financial wellness programs have reached more than 30 million Filipinos through online and on-ground initiatives designed to improve money management and financial decision-making.

The company added that its wellness advocacy also extends to community activities such as the recently concluded Takbo #ParaSaLife Manila and Cebu events, which promoted health, movement, and community engagement.
