Huawei equips the Huawei Pura 80 Series with new imaging technology

Huawei has introduced its new Pura 80 Series smartphones, featuring what it says is the industry’s first Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera. The new imaging technology aims to improve smartphone photography with more detail, flexibility, and low-light performance.

The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra includes the brand’s new camera system that combines a 3.7x mid-telephoto lens and a 9.4x ultra-telephoto lens in a single unit. Supported by a large 1/1.28-inch sensor, the system is designed to improve image quality for both portraits and zoomed-in shots.

Huawei said the new dual-lens module uses micron-level motors to switch between focal lengths smoothly. The camera housing fits over 140 components and features a symmetrical shading mechanism to manage light flow. The company claims this setup increases the light path by 129% compared to typical telephoto cameras.

The Pura 80 Ultra is part of Huawei’s updated Pura Series, which was formerly known as the P Series. The series has focused on slim form factors and advanced mobile photography since its launch in 2012.

Another model in the lineup, the Huawei Pura 80 Pro, features an Ultra Lighting Macro Telephoto Camera. It allows users to take close-up shots from as near as 5 centimeters, capturing small details with clarity. The camera’s large F2.1 aperture is designed to let in more light, which Huawei said improves image quality in dim environments by up to 40 percent.

Huawei is promoting the Huawei Pura 80 Series as a step forward in mobile photography, combining new hardware designs with imaging features meant for both professionals and casual users. The devices are expected to appeal to users interested in both everyday use and creative expression through photography.
