Microsoft has appointed Caroline Foo as country general manager for the Philippines, giving the longtime technology executive responsibility for expanding the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud business in the country.

Foo previously served as Microsoft’s Enterprise Commercial Director for ASEAN. In that role, she led sales teams across Southeast Asia and worked closely with the company’s customers and business partners.

Her appointment comes as more Filipino workers and organizations begin using AI. Foo will help businesses, government agencies, schools, and other organizations use the technology in their daily operations. She will also support AI training and encourage organizations to use AI safely and responsibly.

“The Philippines has the talent, the ambition, and the digital momentum to lead in the AI era,” said Mayank Wadhwa, president of Microsoft ASEAN. “The opportunity now is to help organizations match that ambition with trusted foundations, strong governance, and the skills to translate AI innovation into lasting economic and social impact. Caroline knows our customers, our partners, and our business across ASEAN, and I have every confidence in her ability to lead this next chapter for Microsoft Philippines.”

Microsoft’s 2026 Work Trend Index found that 25% of Filipino workers are advanced AI users, higher than the global average of 16%. Microsoft calls these workers “Frontier Professionals.”

The findings suggest that many Filipinos are already comfortable using AI at work. Microsoft now wants to help companies use AI across their operations instead of leaving its use to individual employees.

Companies can use AI to handle repetitive work, study large amounts of information, respond to customers, and help employees finish tasks faster. This could help businesses save time, lower costs, and improve their services.

But using AI across a company also brings risks. Businesses need to protect their data, train their workers, and set clear rules on how the technology should be used. Microsoft said Foo will help customers put these protections in place as they expand their use of AI.

“The Philippines is one of the most inspiring markets in our region,” Foo said. “What gives me optimism is not just the pace of AI adoption, but the thoughtfulness behind it. Across conversations with customers, partners, and leaders, I see a genuine desire to harness technology in a way that amplifies human potential, strengthens trust, and creates lasting impact. The real opportunity is not AI itself. It is what people can achieve with it.”

Foo said she will help Microsoft customers and partners get the technology, training, and support they need to put their AI plans into action. She will also work to bring the benefits of AI to more organizations, communities, and students in the Philippines.

Foo has been with Microsoft for more than 11 years. She previously led the company’s Modern Work sales and its customer and partner programs across Asia Pacific.

She also handled regional product marketing for Microsoft 365, Teams, Office 365, and Copilot. Before joining Microsoft, Foo worked at Cisco, Dell, and IBM.
