Social media platform Instagram is testing a new feature that allows users to reset their content recommendations across Explore, Reels, and Feed. This gives people the option to start fresh with their suggested content. Recommendations will gradually adapt again based on user interactions, ensuring a more personalized experience over time.
Users can also review their following lists during the reset process and unfollow accounts that no longer match their interests. Instagram collaborated with Joanna and Clea of The Home Edit to provide organizational tips for parents and teens, encouraging them to periodically reassess their Instagram activity, much like organizing a home.
Current tools let users mark content as “Interested” or “Not interested,” and even hide posts containing certain words. Teens in specific regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, can select topics they want to explore, ranging from travel to cooking.
Additional features include the Following Feed, which shows posts in chronological order, and a Favorites list for quick access to preferred accounts. Tools like Close Friends for Stories and the “Your activity” section allow teens to manage their interactions and digital footprint.
To further transparency, Instagram has launched a new page in its Transparency Center. This resource explains its content protection policies and highlights the types of content removed or restricted for teens. The goal is to ensure safer online experiences while helping parents and teens better navigate the platform.
