The IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) will celebrate its 20th anniversary at the International IT-BPM Summit (IIS) 2024, set to take place on Oct. 2-3, 2024, at Okada Manila.

This annual event will gather key players from the IT and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry to discuss current challenges and future opportunities.

“The IT-BPM industry is navigating a complex landscape marked by rapid advancements in technology, shifting global dynamics, and evolving workforce needs,” said Jack Madrid, president and CEO at IBPAP.

Key topics at this year’s summit will include talent shortages, cybersecurity risks, and the impact of emerging technologies such as Generative AI.

One of the key points of the event will be the influence of AI on the ITBPM sector. AI-driven automation is reshaping jobs, leading IBPAP to stress the importance of responsible AI governance.

Madrid underscored the need for a holistic approach, built on IBPAP’s “4E framework”: Education, Engineering, Enforcement, and Ethics. This framework aims to prioritize AI literacy, ethical development of AI infrastructure, and accountability in AI implementation. Collaboration between industry, government, and academia will play a crucial role in managing these challenges and positioning the Philippines as a continued leader in the IT-BPM sector.

The summit is expected to provide valuable insights on how the Philippines can maintain its competitive edge while embracing innovation. Participants will explore strategies to ensure industry resilience over the next two decades.
