The Intramuros Administration has launched the “Intramuros App,” a web-based platform designed to make visiting the historic Walled City more interactive and convenient.
“The launch of the Intramuros App is a clear example of how we can use science, technology, and innovation to honor the past, serve the present, and shape the future,” said Department of Science and Technology Secretary Renato Solidum Jr.
Accessible at app.intramuros.gov.ph, the app includes information on historical landmarks, do-it-yourself tours, accredited guides, restaurants, shops, cultural events, and more.
“This web-based app is designed to enhance the overall tourism experience by making information and services more accessible and user-friendly,” said Atty. Joan Padilla of the Intramuros Administration.
The project is a collaboration between the Intramuros Administration, the Department of Science and Technology, and CIIT College of Arts and Technology.
“This app is a result of shared interests, where government, academe, and public service converge to make history accessible, not only physically but also digitally,” said Rizaldy Rapsing, program head at CIIT.
Current features of the app include sections such as About Intramuros, What to See, Where to Eat, Tour Guides, DIY Tours, Events Calendar, and FAQs. The second phase will add services such as permit applications, event bookings, and a halal food finder. It will also include Augmented Reality (AR) features and a booking system for sustainable tourism.
