iPeople, Coursera expand partnership to offer AI courses, micro-credentials

Coursera for Campus

Currently, more than 3,700 institutions use Coursera for Campus to deliver online learning to over 2.4 million students

iPeople Inc., the education joint venture of the Yuchengco Group of Companies and Ayala Corp., is expanding its partnership with online learning platform Coursera to offer micro-credentials and AI-driven learning to students across its schools.

Students can now earn 20%-30% of their academic credits through Coursera courses, integrating industry micro-credentials into their degrees. More than 38,000 students have enrolled in nearly 260,000 courses, accumulating over 760,000 learning hours in areas like AI, cybersecurity, and project management.

“AI-powered education is transforming how students learn, faculty teach, and institutions prepare graduates for the future of work,” said Alfredo Ayala, president of iPeople. “Our strengthened partnership with Coursera will better equip our students, faculty, and alumni with the skills and credentials to thrive in an AI-driven digital economy, preparing them for success anywhere in the world.”

This expanded collaboration benefits students at Mapúa University, Mapúa Malayan College Laguna, Mapúa Malayan College Mindanao, Mapúa Malayan Digital College, the University of Nueva Caceres, and the National Teachers College.

AI is expected to contribute ₱2.8 trillion to businesses in the Philippines by 2030. Closing the digital skills gap through targeted training could add ₱809 billion to the country’s annual GDP.

“We’re proud to strengthen our collaboration with iPeople as they scale their efforts to equip thousands of students with job-aligned skills and credentials,” said Karine Allouche, global head of enterprise at Coursera.
