SEEK has merged its Asia Pacific (APAC) employment marketplaces, SEEK, Jobstreet, and Jobsdb, which will operate under a single platform powered by SEEK’s world-class AI technology while retaining their individual brands.

The newly beefed-up platform leveraged artificial intelligence (AI) to make it more intuitive for all users — job seekers and hirers. SEEK has been investing in AI for a long time now. In fact, it has a dedicated team of over 200 professionals, including data scientists, data engineers, and product managers, developing an AI-driven platform.

“This substantial investment has resulted in a unified platform with turbocharged AI features, such as job recommendations, notifications, company profiles, and seamless integrations,” said Neeraj Goswami, head of Product, SEEK Asia.

Since deploying its models, SEEK experienced a 20% increase in the number of applications, emphasizing the positive influence of AI in the employment space.

Natural language search feature

“AI in employment is not about replacing the human touch but enhancing it,” Goswami said. “SEEK envisions AI as a tool that brings the human element into play, especially for recruiters. The ability to understand jobs and talent profiles at a scale of millions enables better matches and more nuanced decision-making.”

In moving to a unified marketplace platform, SEEK can now scale its use of data-driven insight, product testing, and innovation at pace.

“The algorithm enabling us to offer job recommendations to candidates also facilitates recommendations for hiring managers, suggesting the best candidates for the roles they are recruiting for,” said Dannah Majarocon, managing director, Philippines, Jobstreet by SEEK. It also incorporates significant upgrades to numerous features within our platform. Users can now enhance their profiles by including multiple data points, providing valuable input for our AI algorithms.”

SEEK has also introduced a new natural language search feature on its Jobstreet platform in the country. This innovation allows talent to submit job queries using simple phrases or complete sentences on the platform, so they do not need to rely solely on keyword phrases (e.g. “Business analyst”). Powered by a large language model (LLM), the feature enables a search experience that is more organic and appealing to job seekers.

This feature is set to be rolled out across the rest of SEEK’s APAC markets in 2024.
