Seventy-two percent (72%) of businesses in the Philippines now consider artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge when hiring candidates, according to Jobstreet by SEEK’s Hiring, Compensation & Benefits Report 2025.

Of these, 36% said AI knowledge is crucial, treating it either as a primary factor or as important as other qualifications. Companies assess this by asking technical questions or reviewing projects and work samples in the candidate’s portfolio.

“Through this signature report, we delved into the outlook of the hiring market, compensation and benefits provided by hirers, with a focus on AI and workplace diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI),” said Dannah Majarocon, managing director of Jobstreet by SEEK in the Philippines.

Some businesses also reported using AI tools in their recruitment process to assist with screening and assessment.

The survey, conducted late last year by the job portal, gathered responses from more than 2,000 hirers across different sectors and company sizes.

On compensation, the report showed that 78% of businesses provided salary increases, mostly within the 1-5% range. Small businesses were noted to have made progress in setting pay structures and benchmarking benefits, narrowing the gap with larger firms.

Bonuses remained a key strategy for attracting and retaining talent, with 53% of businesses granting performance bonuses. The average payout rose to about four months’ salary, higher than in the previous year.

Companies also highlighted expanded employee benefits, including medical insurance, health checks, and mental health support.
