Jobseekers in the Philippines are now looking beyond salary and benefits, according to online job platform JobStreet by SEEK. Many candidates prioritize work-life balance and flexible working arrangements when choosing employers.

“The commitment to growth and adaptability is essential for retaining talent and equipping individuals to adjust and thrive in an ever-changing work environment,” said Joey Yusingco, head of marketing, JobStreet by SEEK, Philippines.

The company’s Decoding Global Talent Report: GenAI Edition revealed that 67% of Filipino employees favor stable jobs with good work-life balance. Flexible work options, such as hybrid or work-from-home arrangements, also play a key role in employee retention.

Building skills to retain talent

Skill development is another area of focus for Filipino employees. JobStreet’s report found that 40% of workers are willing to dedicate time to learning new skills weekly. Many employees are interested in improving their analytical and job-specific skills, as well as enhancing creativity and project management abilities.

“The Filipino workforce’s dedication to learning is a tremendous asset that drives innovation and long-term success,” Yusingco added.

Filipino professionals prefer learning through videos, online tutorials, workshops, and professional networks. Employers can leverage these preferences by offering targeted upskilling opportunities to meet employee needs, fostering a culture of growth and loyalty.

Addressing mental health and inclusion

Jobseekers also value employers that prioritize mental health, well-being, and diversity in the workplace. Stress management resources, psychological safety, and training on unconscious bias are increasingly seen as essential.

Employees who are satisfied with their work environment are 49% less likely to consider leaving their jobs, underscoring the importance of meaningful relationships, workplace support, and the opportunity to make a positive societal impact.

By addressing these priorities, employers can better attract and retain top talent while creating a motivated and future-ready workforce.
