KMC, known for its innovative and sustainable office spaces, achieved a significant milestone by obtaining B Corp certification. This accolade not only distinguishes KMC as a leader in its sector but also marks a notable achievement within the Philippine business landscape.

B Corp certification, awarded by B Lab, reflects a company’s commitment to high standards of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. It evaluates various aspects of a company’s operations, including employee well-being, social impact, and environmental sustainability.

“We didn’t pass when we scored ourselves a year and a half ago, so this was a work in progress for everybody,” said Mike McCollough, KMC.

This achievement holds particular significance in the context of the Philippine labor market, where underemployment remains a prevalent issue. With 7.10 million Filipinos, comprising 15.9% of the workforce, experiencing underemployment just last year, KMC’s commitment to social responsibility sets a notable precedent.

McCollough revealed plans to target an even higher score upon revalidation, aiming for a score of 85 compared to the 80.4 earned this year. “Anything that makes a living environment cleaner and safer, better for our employees—that’s gonna be our focus over these next couple of years,” McCollough affirmed.

In an environment where profitability often takes precedence, KMC stands as an example of the power of doing good while excelling in business. The company’s dedication to fostering a positive impact on society underscores the potential for businesses to prioritize social responsibility alongside financial success.
