Elevator and escalator company Kone showcased its sustainable and future-ready solutions at the Konect 2025 event in Manila, reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Philippines’ growing urban sector.

At the event, Kone introduced the High-Rise MiniSpace DX elevator and presented its strategy to support buildings across their entire lifecycle, from construction to modernization and maintenance. The company said its approach aims to extend the lifespan of buildings, reduce carbon emissions, and help adapt aging infrastructure to meet current safety and efficiency standards.

“As cities in the Philippines rapidly expand, we are committed to growing with them sustainably and strategically,” said Petteri Kyrklund, managing director of Kone for Philippines. “From enabling bold new developments to revitalizing aging buildings, we are proud to support every stage of the building journey across the country.”

Kone’s solutions are anchored in its global “Rise” strategy (2025–2030), which focuses on smart construction, predictive maintenance, and energy-efficient modernization. The company emphasized that modernization is a more sustainable alternative to demolition, as it allows property owners to retain key components while reducing embodied carbon emissions by up to 78%.

“Driving sustainability isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s an urgent necessity,” said Effie Chew, head of Environment and Sustainability for Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Kone. “For fast-developing countries like the Philippines, modernizing existing buildings and embedding energy-efficient technology are key to achieving climate goals while improving quality of life.”

The company also outlined its carbon-reduction targets, including cutting operational emissions by 50% and reducing emissions from product materials and lifetime energy use by 40% by 2030. Its modernization packages feature gearless motors, smart standby modes, and regenerative drives, alongside AI-powered predictive maintenance through Kone 24/7 Connect.
