Technology company Lenovo has unveiled its new portfolio of workstation solutions and desktop models under its ThinkStation line to help professionals in engineering, design, research, and creative fields work more efficiently. The announcement was made during the NXT BLD event.
The updated lineup includes enhancements to its ThinkStation P2 and P3 desktop workstations, along with the introduction of Lenovo Workstation Solutions, a set of reference architectures designed to address the needs of demanding workflows such as artificial intelligence (AI) development, spatial computing, and remote access.
Workstation Solutions to streamline workflows
Lenovo Workstation Solutions were developed based on customer feedback and technical research. These solutions offer scalable, secure setups built on Lenovo’s ThinkStation and ThinkPad P Series systems. The hardware is powered by the latest Intel and AMD processors and Nvidia RTX PRO graphics cards. Software in the package is certified by independent software vendors (ISVs).
The solutions are grouped into three main categories:
- Access: Designed for professionals who need workstation-level computing anywhere.
- AI Development: Targeted at users converting large datasets into insights.
- Spatial Computing: Enables work in virtual environments with more ease and speed.
Remote access powered by P3 Ultra SFF
As part of the “Access” offering, Lenovo launched a reference architecture powered by seven rack-mounted ThinkStation P3 Ultra Small Form Factor (SFF) units. These run on Mechdyne’s TGX remote graphics protocol, delivering up to 5.7GHz turbo clock speeds, support for Nvidia RTX 4000 SFF GPUs, and up to 128GB of memory and 16TB of storage. This setup is designed to support high-performance tasks remotely.
Upgrades to the ThinkStation desktop line
The new generation of ThinkStation P2 and P3 workstations includes several enhancements to performance and design.
- ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2: Built for AI-enhanced workflows, this tower supports up to Intel Core Ultra 9 processors and Nvidia RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs. It features increased DDR5 memory capacity and more flexible storage options.
- ThinkStation P3 Ultra SFF Gen 2: This compact machine is less than four liters in size but still supports high-performance computing. It comes with PCIe Gen 5, up to 128GB of DDR5 memory, and support for remote management via the ThinkStation BMC.
- ThinkStation P3 Tiny Gen 2: At only one liter, this workstation is designed for maximum portability. Despite its size, it supports up to six displays and includes Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7, and high-speed DDR5 memory.
- ThinkStation P2 Tower Gen 2: Positioned as Lenovo’s smallest desktop tower at 17 liters, this model is built for entry-level CAD and STEAM education. It supports the latest Intel processors and Nvidia Ada graphics, along with upgraded memory and storage options.
All new models are expected to support Nvidia’s upcoming RTX PRO Blackwell GPUs later this year.
