LG Electronics has launched a new global campaign called “Radio Optimism,” which aims to promote meaningful human connections and spread optimism through music. The campaign supports LG’s brand promise, “Life’s Good,” and responds to the increasing difficulty of forming deep relationships in a digital-first world.

“Radio Optimism” draws from the nostalgic concept of radio, where music and stories once connected people across distances. In this campaign, users can create and send personalized songs using AI-powered tools trained on a curated music dataset. The tool allows users to describe a message or emotion, which is then translated into a song with matching album art. These songs can be shared directly with others or discovered by people around the world.

“As technology advances, meaningful human connections become increasingly vital to enrich our lives,” said Kim Hyo-eun, head of LG’s Brand Management Division. “LG continues its commitment to bringing optimism into customers’ daily lives, staying true to our enduring brand promise of ‘Life’s Good.’”

The campaign is based on findings from LG’s global study on social connection. According to the research, 68% of people say it is harder to make real friends today. One-third of respondents reported having one or fewer meaningful connections in the past month, and 8% said they had none at all.

The study also found that nearly 90% of people believe that having deep relationships leads to a more positive outlook on life.

“One of the most reliable predictors of happiness is having deep and meaningful relationships,” said Jean Twenge, professor of Psychology at San Diego State University. “Yet today, many people are spending more time online and less time connecting in person.”

She added that while people may have many online followers, they often lack someone to talk to in real life when support is needed.

The “Radio Optimism” campaign follows LG’s 2023 initiative, “Optimism your feed,” which aimed to promote positivity on social media. The new campaign targets the disconnection many feel despite constant online interaction.

The campaign website, RadioOptimism.lg.com, is currently available in English and Spanish, with more languages to come. Additional information is available at www.lg.com/lifesgood.
