The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that drivers can now renew their licenses online through the eGovPH app, without having to visit an LTO office in person.
“This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” said Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, chief of the LTO.
The agency hopes the move will help ease queues at LTO offices by allowing drivers to renew wherever they are.
To use the online renewal service, clients must download and install the eGovPH app, available on both the App Store and Google Play. The app requires security verification to protect user accounts.
Once installed, drivers should open the eGovPH app, tap the NGA icon, and select LTO. Then, they need to choose “Online Driver’s Application,” click “Renew Your Driver’s License,” and upload or take photos of the front and back of the physical license. After waiting one to three minutes for the system to analyze the uploaded card, drivers must review and verify their details, then submit. Finally, they need to take a photo following the required standard format shown in the instructions.
Mendoza reminded applicants to prepare the necessary documents ahead of time, as they must be uploaded during the process. Drivers also need to complete an online medical examination and a five-hour education program before renewal.
He added that successful applicants can view their renewed electronic driver’s license in the eGovPH app, noting, “The e-license is valid as the physical card.”
Drivers can also choose a courier service for delivery or pick up their license at a preferred district office.
