Manulife Philippines is strengthening its efforts to engage young Filipinos and household decision-makers, aiming to emphasize the importance of early financial planning.

“Customers in the Philippines are becoming more proactive in planning their financial protection against any uncertainties,” said Rahul Hora, president and CEO, Manulife Philippines. “They seek products and services that enable them and their families to live better lives, and we take pride in partnering with them to get closer to this goal.”

The insurance company is focusing on Millennials and Gen Z customers to highlight the benefits of securing financial protection early. It is improving its product offerings, expanding health and life protection options, and hiring younger financial advisors to provide guidance tailored to younger Filipinos’ needs.

A 2024 study by Manulife Philippines found that many Filipinos remain financially unprepared for medical emergencies, with 41% relying on out-of-pocket expenses. On average, surveyed Filipinos have saved ₱62,000 for future medical needs, while those ages 18-29 have only set aside an average of ₱38,000.

“While Gen Z customers are starting to build their financial security, they are also highly conscious of how easily factors beyond their control, like medical emergencies, can deplete their savings,” Hora said. “In this view, we encourage young customers to start investing in their health and financial future through protection solutions that suit their unique needs and budgets, helping them face the future with confidence.”

Manulife Philippines, which has operated in the country since 1907, provides a range of health, wealth, and protection solutions. Its parent company, Manulife Financial Corp. (MFC), has been listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange since 1999. As of the end of January 2025, MFC holds the largest market capitalization among listed companies in the PSE, amounting to ₱2.95 trillion.
