Maya, a digital bank and fintech company, has introduced the Maya Black Credit Card, a new offering designed for people who prefer mobile-first services and may not have a traditional credit history. Available through the Maya app, the card offers a fast approval process, instant virtual card issuance, and full control through the app.
“With Maya Black, we’re making the most desirable card in the market—and democratizing access to it,” said Shailesh Baidwan, president of Maya Group and co-founder of Maya Bank. “This is a bold step in reshaping credit access—and a major leap in Maya’s journey as the leading provider of the full suite of financial products.”
Maya Black works differently from traditional credit cards. It uses Maya’s own data and AI tools to assess creditworthiness, allowing people who don’t have existing credit records to apply. Those who want to start with a secured card can do so without paperwork or separate applications, all within the app.
All-digital tracking and monitoring
The entire process — from application to approval and card management — happens digitally. Cardholders can track spending, manage billing, and reach customer support through the app. A physical card is also delivered after the virtual card is issued. It’s a numberless card, with details stored securely in the app. Users can freeze or replace the card anytime.
“We designed Maya Black for a generation that expects instant, mobile-first banking. This isn’t the usual credit card — it’s a re-engineered experience,” said Angelo Madrid, president, Maya Bank.
Premium features made accessible
Maya Black comes with several features, such as Maya Miles, which users earn with every purchase. These can be used across Maya’s merchant network, exchanged for airline miles like Mabuhay Miles, or redeemed for travel rewards all through the app.
Users get 3,000 bonus miles when they activate their physical card and spend ₱5,000 within 60 days. Cardholders also get access to airport lounges through DragonPass, including PAGSS and Marhaba lounges in NAIA. The Visa card is accepted by over 130 million merchants worldwide.
Security is also a key part of Maya Black’s design, with all card details kept inside the app and features that allow users to freeze or replace their card with a few taps.
