Chipmaker MediaTek designed its new mobile chipset to deliver flagship-level performance in artificial intelligence (AI), gaming, and connectivity. The chip is built to enable smartphone makers offer more choices while improving user experience across high-performance applications.

“We are expanding our family of leading mobile platforms to ensure both device makers and users can select from a larger range of flagship experiences than ever before,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, general manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit.

The Dimensity 9400e is built on TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process and features MediaTek’s All Big Core CPU design. This includes four Cortex-X4 super cores running up to 3.4GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores running up to 2.0GHz. This setup is intended to handle demanding apps and multitasking while using less power.

Enhanced gaming experience

It comes with a 12-core Immortalis-G720 GPU that enables console-style graphics and supports mobile ray tracing technology for more lifelike lighting effects in games.

With MediaTek HyperEngine, the 9400e offers smoother and more stable gameplay. It includes Adaptive Gaming Technology (MAGT 2.0) for better frame rate control and lower energy use. The chipset also supports Frame Rate Converter (MFRC 2.0+), which can cut power consumption by up to 40 percent when active.

AI and imaging upgrades

The chipset supports the MediaTek NeuroPilot SDK for on-device generative AI (GenAI) tasks. It works with several major, large, and small language models, including Llama and Gemini Nano, enabling faster and more secure AI performance on smartphones. It also uses enhanced inference decoding to speed up large model computations.

For creators, the 9400e offers an 18-bit RAW ISP and advanced image processing, such as 16-layer semantic segmentation and AI-based noise reduction for clearer recordings with multiple microphones.

Connectivity and battery savings

The chipset supports extended Bluetooth connections up to 5 kilometers in line of sight, Sub-6GHz 5G with download speeds of up to 7Gbps, and Wi-Fi 7 with peak data rates of 7.3Gbps. It also features 5G UltraSave 3.0 and supports dual-SIM functionality for flexible network use.
