Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Robert Joseph Montes de Claro called for using information technology to speed up government work and improve public services during his first official visit to the department.

De Claro met with senior executive officials, directors, and other DICT personnel to discuss the department’s priorities. In his message to employees, he emphasized using technology to help staff work more efficiently and accelerate development.

“The beauty of IT is that (it is fast). We will use it to our advantage. We will make each day count from today,” De Claro said.

The visit marked the start of his term at the DICT, which leads the country’s digital transformation agenda, or efforts to use technology to improve government services and other activities.

The department said it would continue working to bring the benefits of technology to more Filipinos, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision for a digitally empowered Philippines.
