Smart Communications has introduced KiQ (pronounced “kick”), a new mobile brand designed for Generation Z users, whose spending power is expected to grow in the coming years.

KiQ is a fully app-based service that offers a personalized digital mobile experience. Users can manage their plans directly through the KiQ app, choosing their number via eSIM, adjusting their data allocation, adding calls and texts, and setting the plan’s validity period to suit their needs.

“Filipino Gen Zs are redefining how they live, share, and stay connected. With KiQ, we’re giving them a mobile experience that puts them in full control, no wasted data, no unnecessary add-ons, just freedom and flexibility,” said Anastacio “Boy” Martirez, chief operating officer of Smart. “This is what the future of mobile looks like.”

KiQ uses a modern, cloud-based platform that operates separately from Smart’s legacy systems. This helps provide better value through simplified data offers and a focus on user experience, moving away from traditional app-specific promos.

“The network uses the same infrastructure as our other services, but KiQ runs on a separate cloud-based platform,” explained Lloyd Manaloto, first vice president for strategy and corporate brand at Smart, during a media preview. “From the mobile app to where it connects to the network, it is separate from the others.”

KiQ also offers a prioritized network experience in high-traffic areas, allowing users to stay connected during peak times for faster browsing, uninterrupted streaming, and more reliable connections.

“We’re not just launching a new mobile brand. We want to give the next generation of mobile users an experience that fits their lifestyle. We invite Filipino Gen Zs to take control, express themselves, and embrace mobile freedom with KiQ,” Martirez said.

The service is currently prepaid, but Smart plans to make postpaid options available in the future. Executives noted that the same security measures applied to other Smart brands will also be in place for KiQ to help prevent fraud. For now, payments will be processed within Smart’s ecosystem, with more payment methods to be added later.
