OpenAI has raised $6.6 billion in venture capital funding, with the investment led by Thrive Capital. This financial boost will help the AI company expand its capabilities, particularly in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), which powers its popular chatbot, ChatGPT.

In a statement, OpenAI explained that the new funds will allow the company to focus on frontier AI research, increase computing capacity, and develop more tools aimed at solving complex problems. The company’s post-money valuation now stands at $157 billion.

Since its launch in 2022, ChatGPT has changed how generative AI is used, sparking both innovation and debate. Microsoft has been a major investor, and Apple recently announced a partnership with OpenAI to bring AI features to its devices.

Currently, over 250 million people use ChatGPT weekly for work, creativity, and learning. Businesses are also incorporating the platform to improve productivity, while developers create innovative applications using the AI technology.

OpenAI’s goal is to make advanced AI accessible to everyone, a vision that drives its continuous growth and development.
