PLDT Global Corp., the international division of PLDT Inc., has partnered with Bru-Haas (B) SDN BHD to improve international subsea connectivity. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), will utilize the advanced capabilities of the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) and the Apricot subsea cable systems.
“By leveraging the advanced capabilities of ADC and Apricot, we are not only strengthening our network resilience but also reinforcing the Philippines’ position as a critical hub for international data traffic,” said Albert Villa-Real, president and CEO of PLDT Global.
Under the terms of the MOU, PLDT Global will provide Bru-Haas with international subsea capacity through the ADC and Apricot systems. This agreement is expected to significantly improve Bru-Haas’ network architecture, which currently includes Points of Presence (PoP) in Angola, Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Los Angeles. The partnership will also give Bru-Haas access to the Asia America Gateway and Southeast Asia Japan Cable Systems, among other regional cable systems, enhancing its ability to deliver reliable connectivity solutions.
The collaboration highlights the shared commitment of both companies to leveraging advanced subsea infrastructure to address the growing demand for high-speed, low-latency connectivity across key regions. The ADC, an intra-Asia submarine cable system, links Southeast Asia, China, and Japan, and plays a crucial role in supporting the region’s increasing data traffic. On the other hand, the Apricot cable system, a cutting-edge Asia Pacific submarine network, connects Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Guam, and Japan. This system is important in ensuring seamless data flow and supporting digital transformation initiatives across these regions.
The partnership is anticipated to bring several benefits, including increased network redundancy, improved resilience, and enhanced capacity to meet the growing data demands of the enterprise market. By integrating the ADC and Apricot systems into Bru-Haas’ existing network infrastructure, both companies aim to provide their customers with more reliable and high-speed connectivity options.
