In the past 12 months, the collaboration between Lionsgate Play (LGP) and PLDT has boosted brand recognition and achieved unprecedented trial rates, making it a milestone in PLDT’s history.
Launching a video-on-demand (VOD) service in June 2022, right after the pandemic, was no easy feat, especially with competition from established VOD platforms. However, LGP quickly distinguished itself with its edgy, irreverent, and high-energy content.
With access to over 17,000 titles provided customers with carefully curated content to engage their audience, promoting the #PlayMoreBrowseLess concept. This includes exclusive premieres of TV shows from LGP’s parent network STARZ, top Lionsgate library hits, and occasional Academy Award®-winning films from other studios.

PLDT Home inks exclusive partnership with Lionsgate Play
“Since our partnership’s grand launch in June 2022, PLDT Home’s collaboration with Lionsgate Play has brought fresh entertainment to our valued Filipino customers,” said Evert Miranda, VP and head of Digital Services of Product & Marketing (Beyond Access), PLDT Home. “This partnership has allowed customers to immerse themselves in a world of unlimited entertainment through LGP’s extensive international and award-winning content.”
Award-winning content
Over the past year, LGP’s audience has gravitated toward blockbuster titles, including popular franchises like “John Wick,” “Hunger Games,” “Twilight,” and “Saw.” New releases such as Bruce Willis’ “APEX” and “Corrective Measures,” as well as captivating series like “Spartacus,” “Power,” “Gaslit,” and “The Serpent Queen,” have been crowd-pleasers.
LGP subscribers can look forward to exclusive titles like the action-packed series “Heels,” “Gangs of London,” “Kandahar,” and “Gray,” along with upcoming Lionsgate films like “One Ranger” and “Fear the Night.” LGP will also exclusively live-stream “The Emmy Awards” for the second year in a row, with seven of its titles receiving nominations.
The key to LGP’s success has been its partnership with PLDT. PLDT boldly offered its subscribers 12 months of LGP access, capitalizing on its reputation as the country’s fastest fixed internet provider.
“We understand that partnerships are crucial in this market to expand our subscriber base,” said Amit Dhanuka, EVP, LGP. “These collaborations have attracted a substantial audience and drive subscriber growth.”
As they celebrate this successful partnership’s anniversary, both parties are excited about Lionsgate Play’s commitment to enriching the platform with even more content. With the introduction of paid subscriptions, they anticipate highly anticipated releases like John Wick 4 and other masterpieces from Lionsgate and Starz, aiming to provide Filipino homes with top-tier entertainment.
