Driven by growth in the enterprise, home, and individual mobile businesses, integrated telecommunications company PLDT reported a 10% increase in its net income to P18.5 billion in the first half of 2023. The company also attributed the growth to tower sales.
Data and broadband contributed 82% of consolidated service revenues posting a growth of 4% or P3.1 billion to P77.5 billion.
ePLDT, the B2B arm of the PLDT Group increased revenues by 2%, or P0.6 billion, to reach P23.2 billion for the first half of 2023. The continued digitalization among enterprises and businesses in the country spurred growth in the ICT (information and communications technology) business, specifically the cloud and data center.
Earlier this year, the company announced the planned 12th data center, with an expected total power capacity of up to 100MW, ahead of the completion of the 11th data center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

“We should be able to launch phase one (of the data center in Laguna) by the first half of 2024 and we are now in the process of looking for a possible site for the 12th data center,” said Victor Genuino, president of ePLDT.
According to the company, its data center colocation business grew compared to the same period last year.
ePLDT is planning to expand its managed service offerings integrated with cybersecurity solutions and cloud business in Southeast Asia.
Despite the decline in subscriber base, mainly because of the SIM registration, PLDT’s mobile data revenues increased by 4% to P34.5 billion for the period, driven by a 15% increase in data traffic to 2,389 Petabytes. Individual Wireless posted a revenue of 40.2 billion.
