Software provider Amdocs will facilitate the migration of select business-critical systems and applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS) for network provider PLDT and its wireless unit, Smart Communications Inc. (Smart).
This collaboration is part of PLDT and Smart’s cloud modernization program, aimed at enhancing business agility and delivering an improved connected customer experience.
Amdocs, known for its services in the communications and media sector, will offer comprehensive support in cloud strategy, planning consultancy, as well as cloud security and operations services. Leveraging its state-of-the-art artificial intelligence-driven cloud operations platform hosted on AWS, Amdocs will empower PLDT and Smart to optimize and scale their infrastructure performance and resources as per their requirements.
“Around the world, service providers are leveraging the power of the cloud to become more agile and deliver improved experiences for their customers,” said Anthony Goonetilleke, group president of Technology and head of Strategy at Amdocs. “Capitalizing on the opportunity of 5G and beyond requires modern, scalable cloud infrastructure.”
Beyond the benefits of AWS cloud technology, the agreement between Amdocs and PLDT will tap into AWS’ suite of cloud services to develop and manage applications for PLDT and Smart.
“Moving to the cloud is a key element in PLDT’s overall transformation agenda,” said Emmanuel Lorenzana, chief transformation and customer officer at PLDT. “It will provide agility and speed for innovations, which we believe will play an increasingly important role in our drive to future-proof the PLDT business.”
