Starting next month, Pru Life UK will have a new CEO, Sanjay Chakrabarty, who was recently appointed to take the helm of the insurer here in the Philippines.
Chakrabarty, who has a rich background in banking and insurance spanning over 26 years across various Asian markets, currently serves as the CEO of Prudential Cambodia and Prudential’s Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar Hub. Some of his achievements in these roles, where he spearheaded strategic initiatives, leading Prudential Cambodia to the top market position while emphasizing customer-centric approaches and fostering a culture of excellence.
“In particular, Sanjay will look to strengthen our strategic partnerships in one of Prudential’s key markets and cultivate an agency force that fulfills our mission of being our customers’ most trusted partner and protector,” said Solmaz Altin, managing director, Prudential Strategic Business Group.

Chakrabarty emphasized leveraging Prudential’s brand and market dominance to enhance customer experiences, utilize technology for distribution optimization, and explore growth avenues in health insurance within the dynamic and fast-growing Asian market.
Prior to his current role, Chakrabarty held positions at Citibank in India, Japan, and Korea, covering various areas such as risk management and business functions. His tenure at Prudential includes key roles in Vietnam and Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank in Vietnam, culminating in his current leadership roles in Cambodia.
Chakrabarty holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from the Indian Statistical Institute and has a penchant for history, indulging in it during his leisure time.
He will succeed Eng Teng Wong, the current CEO, who will be relocating to Malaysia to prioritize spending time with his family.
