Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has moved its main production systems to NARRA1, the data center of Digital Edge (Singapore) Holdings Pte. Ltd., to strengthen its digital operations and support growing online banking use.
The move is part of RCBC’s 2026 digital plan, which focuses on improving system reliability, boosting capacity, and meeting tighter cybersecurity and regulatory requirements. The bank said it needs stronger infrastructure as more customers shift to digital services and as financial institutions adopt more AI tools and cloud-based systems.
“Digital Edge’s operational track record, sustainability-centered engineering expertise, and commitment to security made them the right partner for us,” said John Alabastro, chief information officer of RCBC. “We have selected NARRA1 because it offers both the technical capacity and environmental efficiency needed by a modern, fast-scaling bank like ours.”
NARRA1 is a Tier 3, carrier-neutral facility designed to keep systems running even during power or network issues. It offers dual-power backup, strict security controls, and features that meet the requirements of banks. RCBC said this setup will help protect essential services, handle heavier digital workloads, and keep online banking stable.
The data center runs fully on renewable energy and carries BERDE, IFC EDGE, and LEED Gold certifications. It is built to meet energy-efficiency and regulatory standards required in the financial sector.

“RCBC’s decision to place its production workloads in NARRA1 reflects this momentum and validates our commitment to providing banking-grade infrastructure built for security, uptime, and high-density performance,” said Vic Barrios, president and CEO of Digital Edge Philippines.
RCBC said using a more energy-efficient and resilient data center supports its long-term plan to build a secure and sustainable digital system. The partnership also highlights how more Philippine banks are upgrading their IT systems and shifting to cloud-ready and sustainability-focused facilities.
