Real estate summit underscores power of data in transforming the sector

In the recently concluded PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit by real estate technology company PropertyGuru Group, participants highlighted the role of data insights in revolutionizing the sector.

With the theme “Data Revolution,” the virtual summit premiered on AsiaRealEstateSummit.com was participated in by decision-makers from within and outside the Asia Pacific region. Now on its seventh year, the focus of the summit revolved around sustainability, green building and finance, clean tech, urban resilience, and smart cities, with data science and data-driven insights at the core.

“We have the opportunity to transform our workflows from within, making sure that we’re using data-driven insights to make intelligent decisions: how we build and what we build; how we match demand and supply of real estate; and then how we manage property. Data-driven insights can underpin all parts of the real estate ecosystem,” said Hari V. Krishnan, CEO and managing director of PropertyGuru Group, during his “GuruTalk” presentation.

Returning chairperson of the summit, Stephen Oehme, who is currently the managing director of Quantum Thailand Ltd and a former board member of Burj Khalifa Dubai, calls to harness the power of data science to realize the collective sustainability goals.

“Sustainability is the lens to achieve the outcome we all desire and the legacy we want to leave,” said Oehme during the keynote address. “We need to be more progressive, and we need to achieve solid and lasting outcomes. Together, we can.”

This year’s PropertyGuru Asia Real Estate Summit, or ARES, features an assemblage of more than 30 real estate and technology leaders, sustainability and climate heroes, start-up innovators, and visionaries hailing from around the world. Fifty percent of the expert roster comprises women and members of the LGBTQ+ community, solidifying the event’s commitment to promoting a diversity of voices and inclusivity in the real estate and tech sectors.

The virtual “GuruSummit” opened in early December as part of the ‘PropertyGuru Week.’ an annual celebration that includes the presentation of the Regional and Country Winners at the 16th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final, which premiered on Dec. 9 and served as the culmination of the 2021 virtual gala series covering 14 key property markets across the Asia Pacific.
