The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) introduced a new AI-enabled chatbot called SEC AInnovation to help the public understand and access information about its rules and services.

SEC AInnovation is designed to respond to user queries in real time by pulling information from laws, regulations, and official guidelines. It aims to reduce the need for manual research or in-person visits to SEC offices.

“This system is built to communicate the way you do, breaking language barriers and making sure that everyone feels heard and understood,” said SEC Chair Emilio Aquino during the launch on June 2.

Aquino also shared that the tool aims to make the Commission’s services faster and more accessible not just in the Philippines, but also overseas.

Use of natural language processing engine

Users can talk to the chatbot in English, Filipino, Bisaya, and other local languages. The tool uses a natural language processing engine to understand different ways of asking questions.

SEC AInnovation includes information from the Revised Corporation Code (Republic Act No. 11232), the Securities Regulation Code (Republic Act No. 8799), and other related rules, circulars, and advisories issued by the Commission.

Beyond typing messages, users can click topic links or use voice features. These functions are meant to help more people access SEC information in a way that suits them best.
