After a much-anticipated deal with PLDT fell through last year, SkyCable Corp. (Sky) has established a new partnership with fiber broadband provider Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions, Inc. (Converge).

Sky will leverage Converge’s network capabilities to improve network infrastructure and services for its subscribers.

“Through the arrangement with Converge, we expect Sky and its subscribers to benefit from the world-class fiber network that Converge has built over the last few years,” said Claudia Suarez, president and COO of Sky.

Suarez emphasized that this initiative aligns with Sky’s transformation plan, which focuses on enhancing its product offerings and service quality.

Converge, a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network provider, boasts over eight million ports and a fiber footprint extending over 700,000 kilometers, reaching 16 million homes nationwide. As of the end of March 2024, Converge serves 2.3 million residential broadband subscribers across the country.

Connectivity

“This will be a revenue boost for Converge, consistent with similar arrangements with other players, as we are able to continue to monetize further our excess network capacity,” said Maria Grace Uy, president and co-founder, of Converge.

Beyond network upgrades, Sky’s transformation program includes efforts to increase operational efficiency, enforce greater financial discipline, and implement organizational improvements.

“We hope to replicate this business model and encourage other players to do the same,” said Dennis Anthony Uy, CEO and co-founder of Converge. “This is really all part of the mission of Converge to bring world-class connectivity to all Filipinos and leave no one behind in this digital age.”
