Smart Communications Inc. Mobile Stores Lockdown 2021Media Release

Smart rolls out mobile stores in NCR, Luzon to serve customers, retailers during lockdown

Philippine mobile services provider Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) has deployed community stores to support retailers and serve customers in areas affected by COVID-19 restrictions.

With the help of its regional distributors, customers can purchase Smart and TNT loads, WiFI devices from these rolling stores, while retailers can also top up their load wallets or purchase a retailer package. Some rolling stores also offer LTE smartphones and support for PLDT Home Fiber applications.

“It is our commitment to ensure that Filipinos have access to our network and services during this time of need. If they cannot go to us, we will find a way to reach them in their communities,” said Alex Caeg, SVP and head of Consumer Sales Group at PLDT and Smart. “We would like to thank the LGU officials, and our partner distributors for helping us in this advocacy.”

According to Smart, there are over 600 community lead stores now in place in Metro Manila to serve both customers and retailers. For the public’s convenience and to provide increased customer touchpoints, the distributors have also shifted to digital platforms and delivery systems.

Two dozen rolling stores

There are also more than two dozen rolling stores that have been deployed covering areas in Batangas, Bulacan, Cagayan, Cavite, Isabela, Mindoro, Quirino, and Tuguegarao. Rolling stores under distributors in Bicol, Laguna, Marinduque, and Quezon are also in the works to serve communities should stricter lockdowns be imposed in areas that they cover.

“These rolling stores also help retailers keep their livelihood in this time of crisis. During the enhanced community quarantine, Smart distributors continued to support their retailers to ensure that they have a continuous inventory of telco loads and WiFI devices to serve their customers,” said John Palanca, FVP and regional head for Luzon Consumer Sales, Smart.

Customers may still access products and services through official online channels, as well as physical stores, temporary booths in malls, convenience stores, and partner supermarkets near them.
