Esports athletes gathered at the Gariath Concepts in Quezon City for the opening of what is considered to be the country’s first 5G-powered gaming hub by Smart Communications Inc., PLDT’s wireless subsidiary.
The athletes took part in a mobile mobile phone vs PC crossplay exhibition match via cloud gaming pitting PLDT-Smart Omega team and Team LuponWxC for a game of DoTA 2. The former clinched a landslide victory with a score of 34-6.
Cloud gaming has been gaining traction lately because it allows players to run games on cloud servers instead of local devices. It is made convenient that gamers can play any game on any device with a screen without the need for a gaming console or desktop computer as long as they have an internet connection.
