Warner Bros. Japan’s Anime Production and WIT Studio have teamed up to create “Suicide Squad ISEKAI,” a new anime series set to premiere on HBO GO on June 27. This 10-episode series transports iconic DC characters like Harley Quinn and The Joker into an alternate dimension, blending superhero action with the popular ISEKAI anime genre, where characters are taken to another world.
In “Suicide Squad ISEKAI,” Amanda Waller, the formidable leader of A.R.G.U.S., assembles a team of DC’s notorious criminals: Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Peacemaker, Clayface, and King Shark. Their mission takes a fantastical turn as they are sent through a mystical portal into a world filled with orcs, dragons, and magic. Bound by explosive collars that prevent escape, these supervillains must navigate their new reality and survive the lethal challenges it presents.
The cast features prominent Japanese voice talents, with Anna Nagase as Harley Quinn, Yuuichirou Umehara as The Joker, and Reigo Yamaguchi as Deadshot. Additional voices include Takehito Koyasu as Peacemaker, Jun Fukuyama as Clayface, Subaru Kimura as King Shark, Taku Yashiro as Rick Flag, Chika Anzai as Katana, and Kujira as Amanda Waller.
Directed by Eri Osada and featuring a screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, the series boasts character designs by Akira Amano and Naoto Hosoda, and a musical score by Kenichiro Suehiro. This collaboration integrates the imaginative spirit of Japanese animation with the gritty, dynamic essence of DC’s “Suicide Squad.”
Fans of DC and anime can look forward to an adventurous saga as Harley Quinn and her team confront the perils of their otherworldly surroundings. Catch the premiere of “Suicide Squad ISEKAI” on HBO GO and embark on this thrilling new journey.
