More than 70 million product listings worldwide were rejected before going live on TikTok Shop between January and June 2025, according to the short-form video commerce platform’s latest Global Safety Report.

TikTok Shop also removed over 200,000 restricted or prohibited products after they were listed and deactivated more than 700,000 seller accounts for policy violations during the same period. E-commerce features were taken down from over two million creators who failed to meet TikTok Shop standards.

“Ensuring a safe and reliable shopping experience is at the heart of everything we do,” said Yves Gonzalez, head of Public Policy for the Philippines at TikTok Shop. “Our Safety Report demonstrates our continued investment in tools, technologies, and policies that protect our community, and reflects our dedication to building a platform where Filipino sellers and buyers can confidently thrive.”

The company said these actions are backed by a mix of human review, technology tools, and enforcement of its policies and Community Guidelines. TikTok Shop requires seller verification, age checks, and product compliance reviews to limit unsafe or fake products on the platform.

In the Philippines, the #TikTokShopSmart campaign focuses on helping users shop more carefully. The campaign teaches buyers how to spot trusted sellers, check product details and reviews, and avoid scams.

The company also works with government agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, to help businesses sell online in a compliant way. Sellers receive updates through the TikTok Shop Academy and the @sellwithtiktokshop_ph account to stay informed about platform rules.

For buyers, the platform said it handles product recalls with government and public institutions and informs customers when unsafe items are removed. The platform offers free returns on many items, a 90-day money-back guarantee for defective products, and refund options designed to reduce delays. Customer support is available 24/7 through live agents and automated tools.

The company said these measures are meant to improve transparency and trust on the platform while allowing Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises to operate online with more confidence.
