The latest report from Twilio Segment underscores the critical role of Customer Data Platforms (CDPs) in driving (artificial intelligence) AI-driven customer insights and personalized experiences for businesses. 

Based on data from over 25,000 customers, the report reveals a growing emphasis on data quality to effectively leverage AI technologies and respond to nuanced customer behaviors.

In 2023, Twilio Segment processed a record 12.1 trillion API calls, indicating a significant uptick in data-centric operations and the integration of AI technologies. This trend highlights the importance of real-time data processing and seamless AI integration facilitated by CDPs. These platforms enable businesses to efficiently collect, unify, and activate data across various channels, giving them a competitive edge in delivering personalized experiences.

“With data warehouses, and data lakehouses like Databricks becoming central to customers’ data strategies, it’s crucial for CDPs to support seamless integration with these data warehouses,” said Kathryn Murphy, SVP of Product and Design at Twilio.

Predictive AI

Quality data is important for AI effectiveness, with 60% of businesses recognizing its importance for growth. Data warehouses are increasingly popular destinations for customer data, indicating a shift towards centralization and improved analytics. CDPs play a crucial role in integrating, resolving identities, and activating insights in real-time across various touchpoints, enhancing organizational agility and competitiveness.

Predictive AI is gaining traction, with Twilio Segment witnessing over 426 Predictive Traits created. Features like CustomerAI Predictions empower companies to proactively engage with users based on their data, optimizing campaigns and improving customer retention.

The Twilio Segment platform offers over 450 out-of-the-box integrations, with Google Universal Analytics being the most popular. This flexibility, combined with tools like Functions, ensures seamless integration with various applications, reflecting a market preference for modular and interoperable systems.
