VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, is expanding its electric vehicle charging network in the Philippines as heavy holiday traffic adds pressure on drivers across Metro Manila and other urban areas.
December is one of the busiest months on Philippine roads, with long traffic jams, full parking areas, and packed schedules. For EV owners, slow-moving traffic can raise concerns about battery levels, especially during long idle times. VinFast said its charging network aims to reduce that stress by making charging more accessible during daily trips.
The company currently has 123 V-Green charging stations operating across Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao. These stations are designed to support VinFast electric vehicle owners as traffic increases toward the end of the year. The network is operated by V-Green, a charging infrastructure company focused on building EV power solutions in Southeast Asia.
In the Philippines, V-Green charging stations are located in areas that many drivers already pass through as part of their routine. These include Marikina, Montalban, Cavite, and Alabang. The stations are placed in malls, town centers, and lifestyle areas rather than in isolated locations. VinFast said this approach allows drivers to charge their vehicles while doing regular activities such as grocery shopping, meeting friends, or having meals after work.
By placing chargers along common routes, VinFast aims to make charging part of everyday life rather than an extra task. Drivers can plug in while waiting for appointments or avoiding rush-hour traffic. This setup reduces the need to plan trips around charging stops, which remains a concern for many people considering electric vehicles.
For current VinFast owners, the expanded charging network provides added confidence during peak travel periods. Drivers are less likely to monitor battery levels constantly, knowing that charging stations are available along their routes. This can be especially helpful during long traffic standstills or unexpected detours.
The charging network also addresses one of the main concerns of potential electric vehicle buyers, which is access to reliable charging. Limited infrastructure has been a barrier to wider EV adoption in the Philippines. VinFast said the growing number of V-Green stations helps reduce this concern by offering practical coverage in high-traffic areas.
With traffic expected to remain heavy in the coming weeks, VinFast said the expanded network is intended to help drivers move through the season with fewer disruptions and more predictable travel plans.
