Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast has revised its battery subscription policy in the Philippines, offering buyers a lower upfront cost option for owning an EV.
The updated policy allows customers to choose between buying a VinFast vehicle with the battery included or purchasing the vehicle separately and subscribing to the battery. Under the subscription model, the initial cost of the vehicle can be reduced by up to about 20%, depending on the model.
Battery subscription fees start at ₱1,600 per month and are based on how far the vehicle is driven. This setup is intended to make EV ownership more manageable for buyers who want to reduce initial expenses.
Under the subscription plan, VinFast remains responsible for the battery throughout the subscription period. This includes maintenance, repairs, and replacement if the battery capacity drops below 70%. If the battery is damaged due to an accident, the company will also handle the issue under the subscription policy.
“With our pioneering battery subscription policy, we aim to remove the biggest concerns of Philippine consumers, helping VinFast electric vehicles become a truly practical and accessible choice for every household when combined with our comprehensive sales and aftersales policies,” said Antonio Zara, CEO of VinFast Southeast Asia.
Customers who prefer to buy the vehicle with the battery included will continue to receive aftersales support, including a battery warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometers.
VinFast said the updated policy is part of its efforts to make EV ownership easier in the Philippines. Previous initiatives include free charging at stations operated by partner V-Green, financing options with low down payments, and a residual value program that guarantees up to 90% of the vehicle’s original price.
The company has been operating in the Philippine market for over a year.
