Vitro Inc., the data center arm of the PLDT Group, has introduced Vitro Academy, a micro-credential program designed to prepare Filipino students for careers in the growing data center industry.
“Through Vitro Academy, we are investing in the future of our industry by shaping the next generation of Filipino data center professionals. This program reflects our mission to drive innovation, foster talent, and establish the Philippines as a hub for data center excellence,” said Victor Genuino, president and CEO, Vitro Inc. and ePLDT.
Since its launch in July 2024, the program has trained 371 students, with 56 already certified. Vitro Academy partners with educational institutions like the National University, Asia Pacific College, Ateneo de Naga University, Far Eastern University-Roosevelt, and Wesleyan University offering training in mechanical, electrical, and network engineering, alongside emerging ICT technologies.
The program features three levels: fundamentals, advanced design and management, and specialized training in cybersecurity and sophisticated architectures. Students participate in lectures, hands-on workshops, and mentoring from senior Vitro executives with decades of experience.
Graduates benefit from internships that allow them to apply their skills in real-world settings, paving the way for careers at Vitro Inc. and beyond.
Vitro Inc. plans to collaborate with more schools, ensuring a steady stream of talent for the industry while helping to advance the country’s digital economy.
