With the aim to further strengthen its footprint in Asia, enterprise software innovator VMware Inc. (VMware) has appointed Paul Simos as vice president and managing director for Southeast Asia and Korea and Sachin Shridhar as leader for Strategic Pursuits Practice in the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ).
VMWare recognizes the opportunity to expand its cloud business as the COVID-19 pandemic prompted organizations to embrace a multi-cloud approach as a result of adapting to new ways of working, which could be hybrid or fully remote.
“Both Paul and Sachin are established industry leaders, with deep expertise in enterprise technology and have successfully driven customer and partner engagement in the region,” said Duncan Hewett, SVP and GM for Asia Pacific and Japan, VMware . “They have also made VMware a strategic advisor to our valued customers as we continue to enhance their technology roadmaps in today’s digital economy. I am delighted to have them both as we continue to bolster our customers’ and partners’ digital transformation journeys with next-gen cloud, digital workspace, security and modern application solutions.”
With these changes, Simos is expected to lead VMware’s efforts in Southeast Asia and Korea, developing and driving trusted partnerships with customers and partners to strategically advise and deliver enhanced solutions aligned to their strategic priorities. With cloud adoption accelerating and Software-as-a-Service (Saas) growing rapidly across APJ, he will also play a pivotal role to further the company’s growth in areas such as hybrid and multi-cloud adoption, app modernization, security, networking, and digital workspace platforms.
With over 20 years of experience in the enterprise technology space, Simos has executed some of the largest multi-cloud transformation deals in the APJ region over the last few years. He has driven exceptional growth across different aspects of VMware’s business, from the wide growth in our enterprise business in the APJ to transformational deals across large and government customers in Australia and New Zealand.
“I’m humbled at the opportunity to lead one of VMware’s key growth regions in the Asia Pacific,” Simos said. “Southeast Asia and Korea are fast-growing markets and are digitizing at a rapid pace. The vibrant economies and the diversity of the region have made it a hub of innovation as the region accelerates on the path of a digital future. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead VMware’s vision of transforming customers in their journey to multi-cloud and modernizing applications.”
Shridhar will lead VMware’s enterprise business efforts for APJ and will be instrumental in driving and empowering businesses to succeed in the digital economy. With experience in driving consumption-based sales motions, Shridhar is well-positioned to support the transformation by accelerating app transformation and helping customers move faster in their cloud journey.
“I am excited and honored to take up this new role at a time of rapid growth and rising demands for digital transformation, hybrid, multi-cloud modern applications across APJ,” Shridhar said. “The increased uptake in hybrid and multi-cloud adoption is helping unlock opportunities to drive innovation and agility while advancing key strategic business enhancement initiatives in the region. Digital transformation by modernizing applications and harnessing the power of multi-cloud has become an imperative for businesses to capture long-term growth and develop resiliency in today’s digital economy. I’m looking forward to working closely with our valued customers and partners in empowering businesses in the region to leverage cutting-edge solutions to supercharge their next phase of growth.”
