Like many software companies, VMWare experienced a spike in user growth of its cloud-based solutions when the COVID-19 pandemic forced companies to keep employees working from home. Organizations availed themselves of VMWare’s End-user Computing and Digital Workspace portfolios to allow employees access to any application from any device.

“People needed to have access to their information and applications,” said Sumit Dhawan, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Experience Officer. “We saw an immediate need in that space.”

Based in the United States, VMWare provides cloud computing and virtualization software and services.

Dhawan said the hybrid cloud business also became essential for organizations and received “tremendous interest from customers.”

“Companies needed to build hybrid cloud that can serve both traditional and modern applications because customers are realizing that digital is the first strategy to address the challenges of the new business landscape,” Dhawan said.

Dhawan said they also built “a fuller set of remote or work from home solution” that would allow workers to perform their jobs without having to worry about data security.

“In Southeast Asia, VMWare enabled about 40,000 to 50,000 employees to work from home, across different companies,” said Sanjay K. Deshmukh, Managing Director, Southeast Asia and Korea. “VMware partnered with companies to spin up infrastructure on the cloud and enable this capability for many workers.
