First Eduspec Inc. (FEI) and Rex Education gathered students, educators, and experts for two events that highlighted the growing role of technology in education: the 10th Philippine Robothon and the 2nd STEAM Education Conference.

The twin events were held at the National University – Nazareth School in Manila and supported by the Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and private companies supported the events.

The Robothon’s theme “D.I.G.I.T.B.A.Y.A.N.: Pagyabong ng Kaalaman, Pag-angat ng Bayan,” drew 138 teams from 38 schools nationwide. Students competed in two categories — the Mini Robot Challenge and the Innovative Open Category.

The Mini Robot Challenge focused on food security, encouraging students to create practical solutions using robotics and technology. The Innovative Open Category tackled broader issues such as inclusive education, disaster response, sustainable farming, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in business.

At the closing ceremony, the Philippine Robothon Emblem was officially passed on to the next host, the University of San Agustin – Iloilo.

Alongside the Robothon, the 2nd STEAM Education Conference welcomed over 120 educators and school leaders. Themed “STEAM for All – Coding & Robotics as Catalysts for PISA Success,” the event featured a keynote from Dr. Alfons Jayson Pelgone of the Philippine Normal University. A panel discussion followed, exploring how robotics is being applied in schools and how parents are responding.

Panelists included educators from Brokenshire College – Toril, University of San Agustin – Iloilo, GCF South Metro Christian School, and Dominican School of Manila. Dr. Sarah Villanueva of FEI Research presented a study on skills assessments, while Dr. Vanessa Paula Garcia of PACUCOA talked about quality assurance in teaching.
