YouTube announced that more than 1 billion people watch podcasts on the platform every month, highlighting its growing role in the podcasting industry. The video-sharing platform, including YouTube Music, is now the most frequently used service for listening to podcasts in the United States, according to the company.
More creators are using YouTube to add video to their podcasts, giving audiences a new way to engage with their favorite shows. The shift from audio-only to video-enhanced content has helped YouTube attract more podcast viewers. The company has also expanded its YouTube Partner Program, allowing more podcasters to earn revenue from their content.
Many people discover new podcasts through YouTube’s search and recommendation tools. The platform is also widely accessed on different devices, including televisions. Last year, viewers watched more than 400 million hours of podcasts monthly on living room devices.
The company said it will continue working on improving the podcast experience for creators and listeners.
